I tried it out on Steam. One hour into the tutorials and I was so lost that I logged out and uninstalled it.

I think thats my reason too. The game outside in, boring and non inviting. The stories of players and all that, straight into the veins.

Love spreadsheets? Want to play a game that’s more like a 2nd job? Do you have the desire to never trust anyone again? EVE is the game for you.

This!!!!

I checked my playtime after I got my sub 5, iirc it was somewhere past 90ish hours.

Last 3 days alone I spent grinding just trying to break sub 5 for fun haha.

You are very right, revenue does not equal profit. It leads there, but is not it. This is different in that it does appear to generate revenue while most loss leaders even fail to do that. Spending $11.5 million on free games, and making $80 million back on $115 million deal in two weeks while Fortnite is over there

These are all games which have been out for a long while. The vast majority of people who are taking these free offers would never have purchased the game at the normal retail price, and probably not even with a deep sale discount. When you consider that, these deals are probably very profitable for the devs.

Thanks for the recommendations!!

Thanks for the informative and non knee jerk bitterly sarcastic response while still acknowledging there's a problem.

My experience is most executive management at corporations are full of it. I’ve worked with a lot of them and those with the most managers get close to worthless at the top, when it’s a tall pyramid.

Just wanted to say that this is a very well written response.

This is such a great breakdown that it’s likely going to get overlooked or swamped with snarky replies.

CDPR made their own bed in that regard. The effort they put in towards hyping up the game as the next greatest thing in gaming was their undoing. They should have put that effort in towards actually building a proper game.

All true, but I couldn’t resist a cheap wisecrack.

Yeah like I hate seeing him as a jobber y'know?

I agree. He seems to be stuck in the same rut that trapped Bruce Campbell i.e. beloved genre stalwarts that fit the hero mold too well and become a parody of it. At the end of the day they’ll both have had impressive careers, but get denied the opportunity to reach their full potential.

I think this is pretty much what we’re seeing. I think he shows off his powers, he thinks this is going to be an awesome moment, instead his powers are dumb and everyone is “WTF???”, and he dies.

Gonna laugh if the trailer is a misdirect and what we’re actually seeing is his death scene.

One wonders if perhaps the writers weren’t up to the task of writing an interesting world without a bunch of the lore work already done for them by a book series.
