Yes, they’re based on the Grimm’s Fairy Tales. They’re mythical beings, similar to the dwarfs in Tolkein’s stories. They’re miners—it’s a mine, not a cave.

I don’t think there is any actual evidence that dwarfs or pixies for example were inspired by people with genetic conditions. The reality is that believing in spirits is probably as old as humanity, and believing that small spirits of various types live in the trees, mountains, or under the ground in tunnels and caves…
I always thought they were supposed to be dwarves, as-in, the fictional race of miners who work and sometimes live underground, have a masterful understanding of stone and precious gems, and are known for being industrious.
Are the dwarfs supposed to be humans with dwarfism or are they their own separate species like other fantasy works though?
The second season was a great improvement for me. Uniting everyone against a single enemy made everyone more sympathetic.
Yeah, I don’t know why I like Snowpiercer so much.
Genuinely didn’t realise Snowpiercer was back already! Been a lovely surprise so far, hope this season keeps it up.
I prefer Palpawalker, but it’s subjective.
Breaking Bantha
I’d love to see some actual cities, with some middle class people for once. Middle class people who get drawn into an ancient feud between the Light and Dark sides of the Force, sure, but have them start off as some sci-fi version of an average urbanite.
“Marvel Studios Presents: ‘My Dinner With Andre 2: Civil War’.”
I’m not bitching about the bikes because of the way they look. I’m bitching because the sequence that involved them most prominently seemed to indicate that the speed limit in Mos Espa’s city limits is 10 miles an hour and it is HIGHLY respected. It was one of the most enervating car chases I can remember outside of…
People who want to be creative on new properties don’t work for Lucasfilms. You work for Lucasfilms to make Star Wars or maybe Indiana Jones.
I can’t wait for the post-credits scene where a pirate asks Guybrush about the Loom Initiative.
Yeah, but fundamentally, who cares? So what? Lucasfilm will be just the Disney subsidiary in charge of Star Wars. Is there any real reason we need to attach that name to other material? Marvel makes Marvel stuff, after all, and we don’t wonder why they aren’t tackling “original” content.
Everybody likes to bag on the color-coded speeder bikes scene but NOBODY HAS MENTIONED how many different past and future action figures that short scene managed to reference. Every single one of those surprised Mos Eisley denizens is going to have a name, a background, and an accessory sold separately, and your…
I’ve seen that movie too and I’d also like to sue someone.
Cost to rent a movie without Ana de Armas in it: $3.99
I will shortly be filing a class action suit against Universal for leaving James Corden in.
