Yes - it gives his character a reason to have violent mood swings.

But Sandler has gone dark and did drama, and well. He just chooses not to.

Re: Will Smith - he's basically just banking on Suicide Squad over ID42 this summer.

I enjoyed Yes Man, even though it was basically simply a spiritual sequel to Liar, Liar. To this day I quote Rhys Darby from that movie a ton. My fiancee's name is Cara, and she had a friend a few years ago who called her "Car," which I now do from time to time.

Carrey was fantastic in Burt Wonderstone, and overall I liked it a lot. But after a promising first 2/3, the last 1/3 fell off. (I honestly don't give a shit about spoiling this movie) When your big climax is "We'll just move the audience, they'll never figure out they were drugged for 2 hours," you've got an issue.

I don't know, I liked Kilmer as Wayne/Batman. I just think he was acting in a drama while a cult comedy was being made around him.

At the risk of sounding ignorant: what moment?

You can argue both characters are offshoots of the same pathetic, lonely outcast.

"I'm here to look at da cobble…that's why dey called me, I am an exPERT."

I love What About Bob? and will defend it to the death, but a few years ago I read it was initially conceived with Woody Allen in the Dreyfuss role. I would have loved to see Allen/Murphy.

Ruffalo was a mainstay of romantic comedies for a few years, which is where I first latched onto him. My girlfriend in high school made me watch a few, and he was routinely the only saving grace of any of them with how good and funny he was.

Text can't even reflect the hilarious tone of Carrey's delivery of that line.

Dowd and some commenters address that elsewhere in this board.

Well, nobody's going to top that.

I would totally go Forte. He's not afraid to be weird (in fact, I suspect he actually is a complete weirdo). And he already has "Nebraska" under his belt. Hader would do a good job, but after "Trainwreck" I think he's best as somewhat of a leading man - he's too charismatic and likable to be a villain (though that

Good gauge for what Dowd meant:

We stopped playing Porno Password hours ago.

Stiller's really talented as a comedic actor in that he has TWO bread and butter/wheelhouses: playing "himself" (Woody Allen style) and playing ridiculous characters.

*Garofalo

I watched it a bunch in the mid-aughts (it coincided with me graduating HS and being in college, when I and everyone else got really faux-deep and faux-philosophical). I was very relieved to rewatch it recently and find that it was still fantastic. And holy shit, the cast was loaded.
