While I get your point, it's a big mistake to apply real-life logic to anything from the Rocky series.

Eh, I thought it was mostly a callback to the entire franchise, and it just happened to revolve around a plot point from IV.

You're missing the point, because in the movie, the director gets frustrated at Rocky's lack of ability to read. THE reason he ends up firing him from the commercial is because he can't get through a take without fumbling and mangling the cue cards he's supposed to be reading.

"(though the idea that Rocky loses endorsements for being a bad actor flies in the face of much of what we know about celebrity endorsements today)"

I like the avatar/username/comment synergy, intentional or not.

I mean…it's earned it so far.

I love Doughboys so much. I enjoy how seriously they take this absurd subject matter, and that seriousness itself translates to comedy.

That's one thing I love about this podcast. On other podcasts, the hosts can be just downright mean to each other, but at least on this one, you can tell they really like each other.

Mostly local teams. I'm a Red Sox fan in the Red Sox market, and I wouldn't be able to pick up the games any way besides paying for cable. Baseball especially throws streaming for a loop since they play almost every day - at least football I could just go to the bar every Sunday to watch.

Hey, I mean, technically Joey isn't really her uncle…

Unpossible.

Until streaming services figure out how to offer live, not-locally-blacked-out sports broadcasts, cable companies will still hold power. As somebody who won't get rid of cable solely because of live sports, I really hope they figure it out.

Yeah, to AV Club it's Thanksgiving, to me it's Thursday.

You guessed it!

hpil?

Ooh, yeah…that's more than fair to say. Still, I hope the sentiment still gets through to future generations.

Totally agree. But…
Counterpoint:

Dallas Braden has pitched as many perfect games as Randy Johnson.

One of the more gorgeous songs I've heard.
