In august 2019, I accidentally forgot that I had half heartedly said to my mom a month earlier in July “hey, [grandson] and I might be in town next month”. Out of nowhere on an August night, I got a message that I had stood her up (even though she had never mentioned or reminded me of this supposedly planned event

They do but they don’t have to. I’m sure it would be a logistics nightmare, but I still can’t help but believe that deploying non-PATS lock cylinders with a plan to replace in the future is better than the trucks just sitting there going unsold and drying up.

That’s a valid point. Ford, however, still has physical keys for a number of their products. If I was CEO and faced with “these trucks sit for months” vs “let’s install keyed ignitions and recall-fix them later”, I’d pick door number two. But what do I know 🤷🏻‍♂️

Unconfirmed reports I read mentioned that Ford’s holdup was over the microchips in KEYS, not even the trucks themselves. It’s too ridiculous to believe but I heard it from several that work for Ford. Idk about GM, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was something stupid.

I would argue to go the other way. Get one of the cheaper early 00s Outbacks or Foresters, pay ~$500 and get the turbo HGs installed, never worry about anything ever again.  4EAT or manual both are awesome. Even better is if you can find one of the 3.0l H6 engines. Greatest car regret was selling mine.

I understand your point. An LS would be sweet. Better yet: did you see the article about the Ford electric crate engine from yesterday? I now have plans.

This is one of these that I’m super excited about. A FLA car that seems well taken care of and properly sorted. The old Rangies aren’t *that* bad since there was a minimum of motors and technology back then. The Buick engine is…fine…and the rest of the drivetrain is pretty stout.

The sales and install side is the important factor here. Stop the sale of loud cars and stop the install of equipment that makes them loud and that cuts down on a huge part of the problem. Regulators will be looking more at aftermarket installers than end-users, likely.

Every year I make an entire thanksgiving meal for myself. Sometimes I recreate it halfway through the year. All these things you’re mentioning (stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, heck even a well-cooked juicy turkey) are total comfort items.

Don’t forget spices and industrial-sized cans of whatever (don’t judge, maybe someone really really likes canned green beans). Spices alone are worth the trip because they’re sometimes a fifth of the price of the grocery store.

Engine covers decrease NVH and some act as heat shields or air deflectors if there’s an intercooler.

I think that’s what felt the most uncomfortable about The Closer, his lack of self-introspection, empathy, and actualization. Chappell made some valid arguments but they felt hollow as the presentation was more “some dude bragging about how rich he is” coupled with “old man yells at clouds”. This is partly why his

Musical.ly used to have a sort option that just showed recent videos in order of upload. I miss that.

I do wish the app wouldn’t pigeonhole my quite so significantly. I sorta want to see a little bit of everything (all of the time) and get experiences that are outside of my comfort zone.

Hey, I wanna give Torch SOME credit for safety, here.

I like that idea!

If you fix this with anything more substantial than coat hangers and electrical tape, I will be sorely disappointed.

There’s a reason the 550 BMWs usually go for less than the 535s 😆

5-series and X5s are one of the best preowned deals around. Fears of reliability issues are over blown on average.

Some driving nannys are good, but some are stupid. Lane keep assist, especially when deployed on roads with curves, sucks balls. Yes car, I know I’m touching the right solid white line. Yes, I know what I’m doing on this tight curve. No, I do not need you beeping at me.
