I use dried cranberries. Is that a no?

I was gonna make a rust joke but couldn’t come up with one clever enough ;)

Let me speak candidly here, David: No, you don’t need this.

Roll down the windows?  I’m impressed a 40 year car was even optioned with AC.

Only if you want your first time driver to not make it long enough to drink beer legally.

I’d argue that the 2nd gen is the best looking, but could be swayed by a love for the 4th gen (it’s like a late 30s dude that got divorced and started dating an early 20s girl that knew how to dress him).

It’s not? I guess if you really want to argue, it may be in the mid-sized class, but it’s just semantics. You can get three rows, it’s about 190-194” long (same as the Discovery), has a split tailgate, ample cargo room...idk man. I guess it’s not as big as a Tahoe and like 3” shorter than an Explorer...is that what

You’re not wrong. The E70 was my fave, though the F15 was excellent except for my bias against “tacked on” infotainment screens. I haven’t been inside a G05, however I don’t doubt that it’s stupid all around based on what BMW has been doing in past year.

The diesel was pretty great, too

The X5 absolutely printed money for BMW, at least in the US. It still stands as probably the best full-sized SUV from a design and function standpoint. For example: one of the few to still have a split tailgate. Even today’s model still looks pretty good, at least for the time being until it gets a new grille.

^this. Great car, ridiculous price. $11k tops and that’s with a stack of maintenance records.

This is my argument, too. I’d happily drive one (I had a LR 3 and have a LR4 that’s similar in a lot of ways) and I’m not afraid of “reliability”. But this car is overpriced and has a suspicious maintenance history.

They WANTED it. My mom, who in all other aspects seemed pretty progressive and tolerant of race/sexual orientation/ethnicity, absolutely was in love with Frank (perhaps more than just from afar, but that’s another story). I remember being little, well before I knew anything about how awful he was, hearing glowing

Exactly. Everyone here on Jalopnik bitches about the decline of the stick shift, but very few are out buying a new one, soooo.

It’s because they’re doing tons of R&D to make it so they don’t bonfire up like 1970s drapes in the future.

So much this. Blog layout with the newest stories on top was ALWAYS the best layout.

This is really huge. I live in a very, very high property tax borough however have a very high minority population; and our schools are AWFUL, underfunded, and there’s no corporations or businesses really in order to levy additional taxes. So property taxes keep going up and up. None of the predominantly white school

I’d rather that than my commute: accelerate to 50mph, brake. Accelerate to 50mph, brake. Repeat x infinity for 23 miles that takes me 90 minutes. I’d almost prefer city traffic.

You’re not wrong. Most driving is either on highways or stop-and-go straight roads. Who needs performance you can never use?  I want a cushy interior.

Nah man, Argentina’s had a rough go of it as of late. They don’t need anything worse.
