Walt finally hooking up with Paige is just a side effect of all the severe brain damage he built up in season 3. In reality the third season finale is actually just Paige in her over sized Super Fun Guy t-shirt and favorite sweat pants feeding a nearly brain dead and wheelchair bound (and drooling) Walter apple sauce.
