Quest bars are pretty good. They also don’t melt easily, so you can stow them somewhere in your bag and not get a gummy mess later.

I understand and agree with what you’re saying. Being in a pure flow state unshackles you from the inner critic that can keep you from doing the things you really want to do. But let’s play devil’s advocate for a moment. If you’re in a state of flow, you’re not really focused on what’s going on around you.

Understood, and if you are truly hiking in the wilderness, it’s better to be over-prepared. No argument there.

And the food is almost completely “fitness candy”.

I tried Swedes in high school and they basically gave me black eyes, though they were incredibly popular with the club team swimmers. I couldn’t keep them both watertight and comfortable. Then I discovered Speedo Vanquishers and never went back. Seriously the most comfortable, best shaped, and always watertight
