“Super 8 = An Amblin film knock-off...”

And honestly, what I don’t get is — it really *isn’t* an identical story? Abrams plays with a lot of the same framework and plot beats and whatnot, but in terms of its core themes and its emotional moments, they are entirely new. Fin, the kid who’s known nothing but war and yet can’t bear the reality of it, possessed

Hear, hear.

I can’t agree more. I liked that it captured much of what happened in 1977, but then I’ve very nostalgic. There’s quite a few plot holes that frustrate me when you scrutinize things, but if you’re being honest many of those things can be said about the first movies too.

I had no problem with the borrowed themes. They were so on the nose, I thought it was an obvious nod to the originals and not just a blind ripoff. Now, if Finn loses a hand and Rey makes out with her brother in the second one, THEN I will be suspicious....

Are you white? Because it bothers me and I'm Asian. When I was younger and didn't know any better I didn't think about it, but now I get really pissed off whenever I see this happening. And it's especially egregious with Asians. Wtf is up with the new Rush Hour tv show with them trying to pass off a half Asian as the

I liked the first 2/3rds of Lucy. The last 1/3 was such crap I almost quit watching. After it was over, I wished I had.

i’m really hoping this performance is better than the train wreck ‘Lucy’ i watched last night.

Jane could have been a really awesome character, but I feel the writers never knew what to do with her and Portman didn’t give her the best performance. I think it would have been nice to have a competent science hero in the MCU movies, one who isn’t also a physical badass like Banner and Stark. Instead we got a

We need Darcy from Thor and Luis from Ant-Man to both get powers and team up.

I wouldn’t be opposed to just recasting her. It seems like she only did the last Thor movie because of contractual obligations, and it kind of showed in the final product.

That’s why she’s kind of a bad actress; nobody forced her to take roles in Thor, or more specifically the SW prequels, yet she did and did a poor job because she didn’t want to be there.

I remember some chatter about how these should use the Monica Rambeau character as Captain Marvel for the movies to add some more diversity. Why not just cast Carol Danvers as black? :)

There IS a black Captain Marvel, just not Danvers. No need to piss off people just to piss off people. :P

*Spoilers for current Thor comics*

Good. The Natalie Portman romance aspect is by far the worst part of the Thor movies.
