having Jeffry Tambor’s character decide she’s nonbinary would totally be for its own sake and would have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they want this show to go on for more than 2 seasons and it would be weird to have a character supposedly on HRT go through absolutely no physical changes

...sounds like a really clever cop out, even more so than the “the people working on the show includes at least a million billion trans people” line I always hear.
