They didn't build the LFA to make money. Limiting production to 500 units at $375,000 each only nets you $19M. Considering development took about a decade they knew breaking even was unrealistic.
They sound alone is worth the price.

a 4 cylinder boxer has 2 sounds. Good (UEL header) or not good (EL Header). I like my subaru's but that gets old after awhile. Personally I've put ALOT of R+D into my Avalon to get it to sound respectable. Its not fast but the sound is impressive for the car.
Judging by this photo one would think i'm biased towards the Gen 3/4 Camry (1992-01) but thats not the case. These cars are reliable and cost to own is probably the lowest of the few cars I've had. Also some are quite rare. My ES300 in this photo is actually just as if not RARER then a LFA as far as production numbers…
YUP totally agree....I had a 1zz on a 2001 corolla and took it all the way to 315K miles and still ran fine. Sure these are known to be oil consumers but dont treat it like crap and they will last with 35+mpg highway that is very good.
