My guess is that the shape would help to move anything that was hit to the side of the vehicle instead of underneath it.

Exactly! The electrical needs of a charger is only a 40-60A circuit. The same as any electric range. It’s not rocket surgery. I love how people think that the U.S. is incapable of developing charging infrastructure.
Most of these EV motors are PMAC (Permanent Magnet AC) so that means there is always a field present (most generators have a wound field that is either self-excited *insert joke here* or separately excited).
Autopilot is just a lane-keeping assist (LKA) with cruise control. My wife drives a 2023 Model Y and I have a Hyundai Santa Cruz. My Hyundai also has LKA. If you want the Tesla to drive for you, you’d have to upgrade to either “Enhanced Autopilot” or “Full Self-Driving.”
The Santa Cruz is plenty enough of a pickup. I work out of mine and have hauled 75Hp electric motors (about 700 lbs), a 2000A circuit breaker (about 500 lbs) as well as homeowner errands such as mulch, dump runs, etc.
Same. My wife drives a Model Y and we used it on a trip from Birmingham to Atlanta recently and I had to intervene multiple times (on the interstate). One instance was when the interstate went from 3 lanes to 2 lanes. The car wanted to pass the car in front of us but it wouldn’t have completed the pass by the time the…
Yea, especially considering how cagey they can be with figures (website still shows price of vehicle with assumed savings from not buying gasoline).
Not only can EVs control power to each motor, they can do it extremely quickly. Most inverters have carrier frequencies in 5-12 khz range so they can change the amount of current flowing to each motor to account for wheel slip very, very fast.
This is the one I sent! I need to go to the next C&C and set eyes on this “beast” in person.
I think the main issue is that the IRA focused mostly on manufacturing EVs in the US, instead of sales of EVs. The requirements for the $7,500 tax credit changed this year, reducing the number of vehicles that were eligible. This change (in addition to federal financial incentives for building battery plants) is why…
Yes. We did. The vehicle was paid off so we had the title. Very smooth process.
I recently purchased a new vehicle and I went in with the premise that we were starting from the price ($37,XXX) they had listed on their website. Wrong! They started the bidding at $46,XXX. When we finally got back down to the website number, I asked the sales manager why I had to sit there for an hour negotiating…
You’re wrong. Ok, now that we have that out of the way let’s discuss why. First, you talk about how bicyclists don’t obey traffic laws. How many traffic laws does the average driver break on a daily basis. Think about it. Speeding, rolling through stop signs, not signaling when changing lanes, running red lights, etc.…
Maybe the Rouge plant has a history of doing things their own way?
That film maker is lucky to have walked away at all.
I’ve had a hybrid Lariat on order since Sept of 2022. I bought a Santa Cruz about a month ago and couldn’t be happier. If the Maverick ever comes in, I’ll sell it and move on with my life.
It’s going to be poor road design. Most likely, the design speed of the road encourages drivers to speed and there is probably a turn over a crest or something that makes this location particularly vulnerable in addition to the added speed.
Brings back memories. My dad and I rode the Transamerican Trail when I graduated from college in ‘08. 26 days, 5200 miles on single cylinder washing machines with wheels. I had an ‘01 KTM 640 EXC and I loved every second of it. I’ve since moved on to other hobbies but that was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Makes me glad to drive the Santa Cruz. It’s the anti-truck truck and that’s definitely part of the appeal for me. It does everything I need and it’s also decent on fuel.
Under the race results for F1 Fernando Alonso is listed as driving forFerrari. He drives for Aston Martin.
