Some car-washing tips the experts will never tell you:

Hey now, there are plenty of us chubby bearded guys wearing flannel shirts who are available to model naked with the slogan “I rather go naked than wear fur”.

The new ones really are a waste of money, and their build quality has gone downhill pretty sharply over the past decade. But the old E39-era 5-series has something magical, it drives like a far lighter sedan and seemingly defies physics. Even to this day, a lot of car magazines have the E39 5-series as the benchmark

Meanwhile, a billion years in the future...

Larry isn’t a chemist, he was in finance.

Edited previously to add: “current” as a descriptor.

Toyota made 351 of those 2000GTs...so pound per pound, there’s more ugly by weight if you add up all the current Camrys or predator-faced Lexuseses.

I’m guessing air-filled balloons don’t do well in a vacuum.

You mean an awesome whine that sounds like a proper racing gearbox with straight-cut gears!

Turbochargers have a shitty whoosh that reminds me of a blow dryer. Superchargers sound like a transmission with straight-cut gears.

i was going to post the same comment. so i’ll respond. i don’t like how short-minded tesla is to the safety stuff that this guy point out(there’s similar issues on the X, and the S).

Oh hells yes.

I’m 46, have been driving for 30 years, and I have never owned a new car. Usually I buy something that’s 9-10 years old and drive it for years or until the next one comes along. By that same token, most of the stuff I drive has been over 100k miles when I got it, with just a handful of exceptions.

Pretty ignorant...Lexus put very aggressive pads on that car, apparently. When you say the other, quieter brakes “stop just as well”, what do you mean? Because I measure brake robustness in “number of full-on hot laps at maximum pace on a road course”. A small difference in pad can double your session lengths. But I

A TSB may have been issued not because of faulty equipment, but because the brand doesn’t want petty complaints to rise up for what is actually true - performance brakes do make more noise. I don’t know how hard you brake, but it’s possible that lesser “normal” brakes offer the same performance as the performance

“Here’s something directly related to cars that was said at a national level by the president”

Yeah, I’ve seen it. From time to time I glance at it, but for the most part, I’ve found my best method of coping is to keep pushing forward and living my life like everything is fine. I try not to dwell too long on most of the things that happen.

No. Nobody calls these people “marijuanas.” THEN it would be a slur. “Crack-heads” is used as a slur against urban blacks (although it is applicable to any crack-addicted person). But “marijuana” is not. It’s proliferation through white society with the implication that it is “something strange, exotic and evil

It’s truly insane. I’ve already started the “disinterest” part of it - as soon as my mom starts fighting, I tell her “we’re not going to fight about something like this.” And then don’t reply. It sucks, because growing up, my mom was like my idol.

You are doing God’s work. We already wish there were more 6-speed E39's left, and in 10 years this will only be more true.

Well, 21 at the time, but same difference.
