I definitely don’t have all the answers to this but I think treating them as a symptom of a larger public health problem could lead to some solutions. Off the top of my head:

It seems to me he got s bit of a raw deal on how his comments were reported. I also agree that young kids should not be getting hormone therapy and surgery re-assignment and I took his general statement to be against supporting this course of action.
