That’s right! I’m a bit ashamed I forgot about this, when I’d read about this ugly project oh so long ago. Wow. Since they actively tried, how will this be more offensive? Are puppies and kittens slaughtered in the film at some point? On top of the piano?

As a dark-skinned woman, it’s so crushing to me that they so desperately needed to cast a lighter woman they opted for BLACKFACE and PROSTHETICS. While there are fine actresses who more closely resemble Simone (who also sing!!). What a long way to go to be hurtful.
