Eric Taylor, at the first Lion's game.

I think Zack made the best point possible, that it really needed to be a whole episode concept, rather than a footnote to the ep's deus ex.

"Darmok? Yeah, I remember that one. Judd was supposed to have a lot more screen-time, but, well…"

Guys, I think cameleopard is bored.

Yar at Romulus, her legacy in shambles.

No mention of Ashley Judd? Come on!

I think they probably did it to make the choice to strand the captains on the planet seem somewhat plausible. I mean, that's probably not your lead-off strategy for getting aliens to understand you, that's what you do after you've been beating your head against a wall for a while.

TNG commenters, in the comments section, last week.

Guinan made a comment about how he's not yet LC in this very episode.

Er, I mean the universe of the show, not the literal universe. See, it's confusing, because that same basic setup I mentioned is a ship exploring the literal universe. And now I've confused myself.

@Closetalker "Mozart? I'm afraid I don't know the gentlem— Oh, your composer. Of course."

I always thought a Trek show that followed an Academy class would be cool, likewise a West Wing-type show that dealt exclusively with Starfleet Command. The universe is just too rich to keep exploring it with the same basic setup.

Billy and Cloneasaurus at winner's circle.

All of these are undoubtedly examples of Worf being badass, which I did not mean to imply never occurs. However, none of them are examples of a new adversary failing a Worf "litmus test" of physical toughness.

Yeah, I think the problem isn't an inconsistency in the depiction of Klingon politics, it's an inconsistency between what Worf and even other warrior-class Klingons believe, and how the leadership acts, which I think is very deliberately written.

Feel free to indulge Duras' gaping chest wound, then, RegisteredLoser. I, for one, am sick of its constant strawman arguments and bleeding all over the place.

@Ghost You're right, Picard does come off looking not great. He basically says "I'm not sure your side can win this war, therefore I'm not gonna get the Federation involved."

I agree with Buckaroo, yet disagree with Duras' gaping chest wound's notion that it represents a valid counterpoint.

Worf
It'd only be fair to call him a litmus test for threats if he sometimes bested them. As this never happens, I think it's accurate to declare him more of a foil.

I am literally unable to do this. Every time I try, I look at whichever season ended up in fourth place, think of a fantastic episode in it, and realize that no, surely it can't be fourth. (I don't think anyone will argue with season 2 being in fifth)
