I‘ve driven that road in a loaded up and rather knackered 1969 Morris Mini 1098cc. I held it flat and achieved the heady speed of a GPS verified 126.4kph. That’s kph, not MPH! The next day the head gasket went. Oh well....

We’ve been here before on Jalopnik. I got a mention for suggesting the Land Rover Defender as a possible modern car you could drive forever.

I can’t find the link because it was in the pre-internet days, about 1991 or so. It was in the local paper but I also got the story from a mate who was a car salesman at this dealership. (Neville Ford, Sydney, Australia)

It’s clearly LHD. Look at the “California or Bust” picture at the top. Flipped negatives in several shots I guess.

Anyone who constantly fiddles incessantly with the stereo, the air con, the sat nav or other controls.

Midas must be the same the world over.

In six months there will be a LaFerrari with a bent chassis and a salvage title going to Auction.

Where I live, it would be a Camry, about ten years old. There is so many of the damn things, and they are never driven by drug dealers or hoons.

Unless you try and register a car in a different state to where you reside....

I’m from Melbourne, but happy to say that isn’t me!

The Russians can’t afford (or don’t bother) to maintains the Trans-Siberian Highway now. So what makes anyone believe they will ever build this road?

It’s not a series one as it has the headlights on the fenders/wings/mudguards. I reckon it’s a 2A. Regardless, it’s great to see one there. I could actually live there now. :)

Seriously, this place is amazing. If they don't have a car, that model probably never existed in Australia.

Flynn's Wreckers in Cooma, NSW is the best wreckers/junkyard/salvage yard I have ever seen.

Long Beetle Round??

A car from South Africa ending up in Scotland is not unusual. Cars regularly cross between the RHD colonies and the UK as ex-Pats take them home on "personal import" schemes. A mate sent me a picture of a late model Aussie Ford Falcon on Irish plates on a ferry in Norway just a few days ago.

I don't get the attraction of these things. They are just a heavier, less aerodynamic and probably leakier motorhome.

Torch,

All I can say is I've lived in Australia my entire life and the only time I've heard the word used in that context was on UK TV shows. Yes, Kiwi's are (very) different, so perhaps they use it.
