I was thinking of buying a Wrangler or a Defender two door. Now I might hold off and see how this thing turns out. I like the styling and having four doors without being huge (Wrangler Unlimited, Defender 110) is a distinct plus. If it's decent offroad and pulls more than 1000kg I will be interested.

Because Defenders are slower than a tree sloth going uphill, have less equipment and cost around $10K more (in Australia)?

Standard late 70's onwards Mini/Moke/Metro plastic fan. Unless you like older white ones that fly apart without warning or even older yellow metal ones that munch fingers.

Most of the Beetles in Finland rusted out long ago. It's probably cheaper to import a relatively clean Cabrio from the USA to restore than source one over there.

... and how many states it has had a title in. It's good to see these cars being found. Shows that border control are doing their job.

30mph on LAND and water with a 300hp Turbo Diesel? Surely it will do more than that on land. Amphicar, Amphibious Jeeps, even Schwimmwagens do better than that.

Thanks for the tips.

Okay, so not the current Pentastar V6, or the 2.8 Turbo Diesel we can special order here. Thinking of buying a Wrangler but the 2000lb max towing weight on the SWB is a turn off when compared to 7500lb for the Land Rover Defender 90. Need to be able to comfortably tow my Moke or Mini on my small car trailer

Really? Why is it a poor tow vehicle? Just curious.

I prefer to have a bird fly in front of my crappy sigma.

No, they don't take that into account. Federal law (Australian Design Rules) state that the speedo must be accurate to +/- 10%. Yet the Nanny State of Victoria decided to ignore that and adopt 3kph as the tolerance. Once clear of Melbourne I drive at 112kph on the 110 zones on the Hume Hwy inside Vic. Then wind it

Can someone please explain to Citroen that in Australia (and maybe other places) "Cactus" is slang for "broken", "dead" or "worn out". As in "That car is cactus!"

Dare I nominate Land Rover Defender?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you too!

There is a lot more to the story than that. Holden actually asked for a bigger handout. "Give us this or we quit Australia!"

So no more RWD burnouts and donuts for bogans then? That's got to be a positive.

The question for me is what will the bogans (chavs, hicks, whatever) drive when there is no longer a seemingly endless supply of ten year old Commodores to fit chopped springs and Chevy badges onto?

Yes, agreed. It seems even our PM will soon be in a BMW:

Yes, I am familiar with the Panther platform and I kind of like it.

I knew somebody would say that. To me, Falcons have four doors and therefore are taxis, no matter what stripes and engine it has. EDIT: Plus I've always wanted a Mustang!
