I wish she’d choose a different topic but I’m game to see what she does with it. I’m hoping she takes it in her own direction. As far as grave-f*cking goes, there’s always Mary Shelley. She lost her virginity on her mother’s grave.

If you want to see endless semaphore just watch the kids dance on TikTok. I’ve never seen so much arm waving in my life.

Thanks. I am definitely a fan of O’Brian’s. I can’t stand the night show host older timers (Carson, etc.). He’s able to shine and let his guests sparkle too.

I probably shouldn’t even comment since I don’t like it. Folks should enjoy what they enjoy.

Lol.

Thanks Pete. I was tired when I wrote this. Magical Realism is an excellent description, and I agree; given the state of the world when they made TRS, the sincerity expressed might have been viewed as maudlin or cheesy. It was actually quite brave. There is a profound seriousness behind the fairy-taile demeanor of

I’ve tried a few and just find the chatter so banal that I start thinking of what I could be doind instead. Celeb culture doesn’t interest me.

I swear, KP looks like a different person in nearly every photo I’ve seen. Weird.

I didn’t know that. I Googled and it says “10-20 years” on one site and “100-300 years” on another, but that suggests to me you’d need optimal storage and limited play. Scratches are always taboo. I suspect you’re right. I haven’t played any for a while. I’m going to open a few and see what’s going on. The players

Yes, our library has a pretty decent collection but, you’re right about the talking. People don’t seem to want to anywway. Unfortunately, they don’t want to give you a receipt when you return them and then you end up getting late fines while they’re looking for the DVD you returned. Grrrr.

We went to Family Video, and the New Releases section could trigger some real euphoria. Many of the employees had seen nearly everything and I’d ask them for reviews. Oh, and the two-for-one deals. Good nostalgia. Our city libary has a decent collection though!

Her voice is as recognizable as her eyes.

Good point. I’m sure you’ve read this: “In the late 1970s King claimed that he was “drinking, like, a case of beer a night.” He worried that he would lose control of his addiction and in some way hurt his family. The Shining voices this concern.”

She was uniquely beautiful.

Thanks for this piece. I don’t often get to humblebrag: my first published article is on Powell and Pressburger’s  The Red Shoes. Scorcese calls these works “pure film”. There is so, so very much more. If Scorcese’s first exposure to the film was in black and white, seeing TRS in Technicolor must have been euphoric.

Having hung out with a group of Germans at my last Uni, I can absolutely co-sign this, lol.

I’d like to know who exactly is running the internet!
I’m re-watching Don’t Look Up because I need to know I’m not the only one seeing the absurdity in all of this.

Vinyl records came back; maybe DVDs will too. It’s kind of nice to have a little collection. I don’t know if digital media includes all of the extra commentary, etc. features. Sometimes those are better than the films.

It’s beyond bonkers (bonkers bunkers). I suppose they’ll set up little fiefdoms, maybe hire their own little armies, re-enact the Middle Ages.
Every civilization has been a hostile civilization, run by self-destructive despots. I would not want to spend a second in these people’s heads. They’ve built prisons for

It’s just underwear. I wonder if people would be more less bothered if Dunham hadn’t worn any. She’s just a woman trying to do her thing in a guy’s world.
