Except now if your pinky so much as brushes it while you’re doing something else, you’ve “pressed” it. It really is much more easy to actually activate now than with physical keys.

Perhaps you haven’t used one much. You can activate a button on the touchbar with just the lightest of brushes with your finger, and it turns out your non typing fingers are often brushing keys and other areas without you even noticing it — until suddenly the screen starts going dark or your music starts blasting.

My version is that once a day I find my screen abruptly dimming, and realize it’s my left hand about to hit command-w or -s, the little fingers barely grazing the brightness control.
