@protomech: Yes, but I'd guess that most of those aren't made on the exact same production line as the regular cars... when porsche needs an RSR tub they just tell the robot to switch to seam weld mode rather than spot weld.... :)

Did they pave the road course for the 24 hours too?

I've read several reports from F1 drivers and engineers that the Pirelli's have a different shape that will require aero changes.

@conebone69: There are no batteries in this hybrid system. The energy is stored in a flywheel spinning in a near vacuum. Braking generates energy to spin the flywheel up, then that energy is discharged as current into the front wheel motors.

That footage of Donohue driving the 917/30 is probably the most impressive in-car footage I have ever seen. The only thing I can think of that compares would be Senna on a qualifying run at Monaco...
