Blade Runner gets a pass. Maybe because it's the first use of the trope, maybe because the equipment is so 80s-retro futuristic it's almost steampunk, maybe because Deckard is also drinking scotch in a cozy, smoky future apartment.

For all its artifice of darkness, Batman isn't that dark either. From the Prince soundtrack to Jack Nicholson's performance which would have been right at home on the 1966 show, it's not as grim as people would have you believe. The animated series was arguably less-cartoony.

Don't mock curling, it's not the silly game people seem to think it is. It's a deep game that requires some of the most intense concentration.

I did some curling a couple years ago, as it's my favorite winter Olympic sport (no, I'm not kidding), and once you figure out how to do it, it's a total blast. I had to modify the typical throwing stance due to my arthritis, but once I wrapped my brain around it we won every match.

And never forget, kids...

I don't know what Charlie Jane is talking about. "Fearless Vampire Killers" is one of the best vampire/Dracula movies ever made. And I do think the movie has been reconsidered since it's first box office failure. It's a whimsical fairy tale and an awesome comedy adventure with great sets, two hilarious heroes, fun

You're right there, but please keep in mind that all the "guest characters" with a different ethnical background in Asterix are usually displayed in a way that includes all the common clichés about their nations/peoples...
