It’s a startup? It’s a huge publicly traded company.

For David, it ain’t nothing but a jeep-thang.

...I actually like this thing. You can fit everything for a road trip, get decent mpg with a hybrid, and I’m SO HAPPY they put sliding doors in. It even looks like there’ll be an optional third row for seating (at the expense of trunk space?)

Swing states always cause drama.

I mean if you just plug in for the stoichiometry/temperature at both ends of the reaction wouldn’t that be acceptable?

Yupthis was in California in the early ‘90s.

When I was a little kid, I would go to Quran school in one of those. A dozen kids with no air-conditioning teaches you something I guess but it was a piece of shit learning experience. My chocolate always melted. :(

To be fair, if a hurricane-damaged car is going to be exported anywhere, it’s likely going to be somewhere that speaks English or Spanish. Unless the scammer decides to send it across an ocean which would cut into their profits.

Any car that’s the base model of a “luxury” brand.

The ignition thing was something that I saw a few threads on swedespeed about. It seems to happen once the cars reached ten years old and most independent mechanics refused to fix it with one mechanic saying he could only to realize his software was not updated for 2016 (car is from 2005) so it wouldn’t let him access

At the beginning of this year, I sold my 2005 s40 T5 and I can tell you it was not reliable. It was just shy of 120,000 miles when I sold it and the suspension was going (loud creaks/rumbles from the bushings), the electronic ignition totally broke ($1,200) and the car always consumed a quart of oil between oil

Yeah the current skyactiv engine has a variable valve timing so I would think they would use a similar system here. The problem is that even now, they have cold enough exhaust temp that they have to be crafty with the exhaust timing to get the catalytic converter warmed up.

I actually quite like the idea of some test where you can quantify (and opinionify) the difference in ride quality between various cars.

Frontal area means all frontal area from the edge of the roof down to bumper.

I don’t care as much about the coal issue as I do about this making me realize that the Road Warrior sequel/remake in 20-30 years is going to be full of electric cars and charging stations.

That’s similar to telling a teen to focus on knowing how to talk to their crush before worrying how good looking they are. I don’t know about waiting 6 whole months (depending how often they drive) but this is good advice. I was 15 and the first bit of driving I learned was stick shift, in a parking lot.

I got the Deep Crystal Blue Mazda3 simply because the red, white, black, and silver were all you see anybody drive these days.

Shopped 6 months ago and told them I couldn’t buy anything then because my GFs father passed (not a lie). Sales lady was legitimately shocked and sympathized. A week later I got a cold call from a different salesperson at the dealership and I was bit moody and did lie about having purchased a new car somewhere else.

Take the 50 labor hours and multiply by 70 (or less if you have a mechanic friend) and you’re looking at $3500 over the $2000.
