That’s a good point. And now that you mention Henry Cavill, I wonder if background misogyny might also play a part. It’s probably easier for Henry Cavill to be open about his nerdiness, since he’s 1. younger, and 2. a man. I’d expect society at large—and especially the appearance-obsessed film industry and its rabid

Because, despite what you may hear to the contrary, it still isn’t cool to be a nerd in mainstream America.

I think the first GotG comes pretty close as well, now that I think about it.

Her interpretations of Nancy Drew covers are one of the best things on the internet

Bear in mind it looks to be very much for a younger audience, it seems to be based off a children’s book rather than the dryer Hark, a Vagrant! strips.

I just got a subscription to Apple TV for Severance & now am feeling even better about it. I love Kate Beaton

For those of you who are wondering: What’s the difference between The Rise of the Dragon and Fire & Blood?

as not-Muslim-but-still-brown guy who grew up in the 80's/90's, i was joking-but-not-really-joking the other day that it will be nice to have the Russians as the bad guys again.

While I accept that other characters ( Guinan/Q) would comment on his age, why wouldn’t they address that the Picard they are talking to is actually an android with Picard’s consciousness in it? . Though I would love to see Q at the end of S2 quote Pinnochio & then turn Picard back into a “real live boy”.

TBF we all liked her until we realized she’s a pos

I really, really, really liked this movie. I don’t get the hate.

It’s a shame the movie was kind of a mess and it had some, maybe not plot holes but... Plot speed bumps? Just general story and plot issues. I appreciated what it was trying to do and the overall scope of it, though. It definitely felt more ambitious than the usual Marvel stuff.

maybe someone can redo the Hobbit right...

because the option is coming before the punishment. Luke is being forthright about choices and their consequences. Rather than preaching that attachment is wrong and if you follow it you’ll get kicked out, like Obi Wan did to Anakin after turning a blind eye to it for years, Luke is getting ahead of it and telling

I do think Luke is figuring out how to be a teacher here. He’s in his 20s, barely knows the Jedi, barely had a teacher himself, doesn’t know shit about children (evidenced by him zapping him with lasers).

Agreed. Still tough to watch him fail in slow-motion though.

I’m now kind of hoping that we never see Boba Fett again for the rest of the series just for laughs.

Yeah. You’re technically free to leave a cult too. The Jedi Order is every bit the cult that the Sith are. Maybe that’s why I like TLJ the most. Luke flat out says what I told friends when Episode 3 was still in theaters.

I think any padawan is free to leave the order if they like.  And then there’s Ahsoka, who outright refused to rejoin the Jedi Order and remained apart from it, which the Order of course accepted.  After starting training you’re free to choose a life of love, friendship, and all of that, but you’re no longer

For anyone who thinks Luke is acting out of character by (regarding Jedi teachings on attachment) I would suggest that it is intentional. Luke isn’t confident in himself, and he had no idea how to teach a child.
