I’m really conflicted about this. VO performers should absolutely be compensated fairly for their time. However if they get told the name of the project and it’s big, they can negotiate extra money for no extra work. When IMO the budget should be spent on the devs and QA testers who have to work ridiculous crunch…

Yeah, that’s what I’m seeing this as. You’re not going to get the “casual grandparents and seven-year-olds” market looking up announcement videos on Kotaku (although exceptions exist), so targeting them with the marketing machine’s opening salvo is a waste of time.
