Did anyone get the impression that with Dany heading East with the Dorthraki, where Khal widows go, that she will actually enter Westros by heading as far East as you can go before coming full circle, completing the whole "To go West, you must go East" part of her prophecy?

I wanted to give a shout out to Eric Thurm for contributing One Punch Man. As an anime fan, it is so nice to see one of the best anime this year included on the list. As weird as it gets (and what Marvel hero not produced by Netflix doesn't?) it is still a crowd-pleaser with a lot to offer, so thank you so much!

Thought I'd share the armageddon scene this ending reminded me of. Has an apocalypse ever sounded so sweet and charming?

Did anyone else think of Third Impact from Evangelion 2.0 when the end of the world initiated?

It is hard to believe this movie was a double feature with My Neighbor Totoro upon its release. Roger Ebert also praised this movie and presented some really insightful thoughts on the use of animation in a wartime story.

Several sub-genres of anime delve into elements of science fantasy like Mecha anime where the giant robots of series like Evangelion or the more recent Aldnoah.Zero are imbued with magical abilities. Another sub-genre, Magical Girls, like Sailor Moon and Madoka Magica incorporate cosmic powers to frame magical

The gender issue is an important one, but I think it is just a symptom of the larger variable of fan pandering. YA fiction, like any form of media, carries degrees of challenging or wish-fulfillment for its target audience. TWILIGHT, leans very heavy on fan service for its teen girl audience whereas other YA like THE

I think they kind of missed the opportunity to include a reference to Hatsune Miku and virtual idols, which have become a real thing with the whole hologram plot. Unless this was the late show situation you were referring to:

Really, no Attack on Titan?

Totally understandable. True Detective and Fargo at least have the benefit of being in the same genre as well as exploring the same themes. However, that is also why I bring up these two shows (anime or not) because they share similar themes. What they also share (just based off my viewing of True Detective) is a

True Detective was a brilliant series and I heard a lot of good things about Fargo, so I will have to dig that up at some point.

I saw GODZILLA Thursday night, and it was everything I expected it to be. I plan on watching it at least once more in theaters to bask in the glow of monster smashing greatness.

I watched the premiere of ATTACK ON TITAN last night on Cartoon Network. The English dub was really well done and even after seeing it more than a year ago, it still holds up really well. I highly recommend it.

I find this test important when measuring particular films and even TV series that I like. I was really happy when Attack on Titan passed by episode three even though most of the female characters interact with men, yet are a diverse and well represented mix of personalities not defined by the opposite sex. (Premieres

I really dislike seeing developments like this after reading the book. It is more disturbing when the male gaze may be a factor in it. I don't know what the motivation behind these choices would be, but if I were to choose, I would prefer they change it rather than hear whatever rationalization they can come up with.

Unfortunately not. The Gundam shows they used to air are too old now. However, they are still making new Gundam series, so it is only a matter of whether they will produce one that is accessible to a wide audience. They have been talking on and off about adapting Gundam: The Origin, which has sold very well in the

It would seem the most logical answer to this problem is to close the gap between gender stratified institutions like government, workforce, media, education, religion, etc. As long as the society we live under is so dominated by the male voice, the idea of sexual liberation will be nothing more than a drug like

Another variation on this style of fan revival is the return of the animation block Toonami on Adult Swim. Two years ago, it started as an April Fools joke where the network ran old shows from the segment like Dragon Ball Z and Gundam Wing along with the block's host TOM. The fan reaction was overwhelming and lead to

I should really check out this series.

I was never confused while watching Attack on Titan. I was glad they took the time to explain the characters' points of view and how they assessed the situation. It gave the action dramatic weight. It also caused some problems with the pacing, and I will not call it the best written series airing right now. I have my
