Thank you for the insight! I forgot about ground effect.

A surprising number of pilots get transfixed and will haul back on the stick as if that’s what makes the plane goes up. This, even when they are in commercial jets, doing just that before the crash. They spend all their hours away from stalling, where they can convert forward speed to reduce downward speed, so that

Those of us with a better background know about ground effect. Had he pulled in the retracts, left the flaps down, and headed for the water he would have greased the landing on the beach. Seems like he liked the second worst choice behind straight nose in.

Why did he ride the stall buzzer - once he was over land he could easily have dropped the nose and gained a bit of air speed such that he could have landed instead of crashing. I don’t get it.

I dunno, a monorail sounds more like a Shelbyville idea.

Musk’s father got rich off real estate development. He claimed that he owned part of an emerald mine in what was then socialist-led Zambia in the 1980s, but there’s no proof of it besides his say-so and no documentation of it. It’s just a story he told a reporter at Business Insider, who then uncritically ran with it.

Sigh - I don’t like him much but someone wrote about the events. https://savingjournalism.substack.com/p/i-talked-to-elon-musk-about-journalism

I would hypothesize that anyone buying an Equinox probably doesn’t give a shit either.

One Piece At A Time” was my first thought too!

call it the “man in black edition” or “johnny cash limited” and charge an extra 10 grand.

Anyway, let’s remember the best A-Class:

I still don’t get why we got the A and the CLA at the same time, they are basically the same.

And nothing of value was lost.

A yes, the A Class sedan. For aspirational, douchey vape bros with more money than sense.

Yeah, but if those 3 swigs are likely to get his BAC over the limit. If he’s under the limit, than all bets are off.

He lost his job and went to jail for this and lost his license for almost 3 years.

Seriously, I’m all for hating on billionaries, but as billionaire yachts go, this is pretty cool.

So they’re repurposing a ship that would otherwise be dismantled in an environmentally friendly manner, and your take is it’s bad, just because it’s for a billionaire?
