I feel like a twenty-five-years-older Jordan Catalano is a very pathetic Jordan Catalano.

Yes, invoking a quote referencing the extermination of the Jews is appropriate when talking about driving privileges.

Because, in the end, we’re still humans. And even the best drivers in the world will at some point get distracted. No one is immune from crashing. Now, we know something for certain. At some point in the future, autonomous cars will be better than human drivers. In the long term, they will save lives. That’s why we’re

I have no problem replacing my commute with automation! I sit in traffic for 2 hours a day.

My MSF class had a bunch of guys who ride liter bikes and were there because they had too many tickets. Funnily enough, they did really horribly during the riding tests. Apparently the MSF course was only recently required in my state for a license, and based on their performance, I’m glad it was.

I don’t think it will ever be necessary to tell people like yourself they are not allowed to drive. Eventually though, it will become too burdensome for people who want to drive to stay behind the wheel. Once autonomous cars are driving twice as fast as human driven cars; and people and their employers start getting

Autonomous guns? Not seeing the analogy. It’s not about taking away our cars, it’s about taking away our privilege to drive...and yes, privilege, not right.

Why don’t we not take it more extreme, because doing that is ridiculous and not a valid argument against something?

I’ll be long dead before that will be an issue.

We still allow cars on the roads without seatbelts. I was born in the seventies. Do the math, I’ll never see a motorcycle ban. Nor should I. If deaths caused (other than driver) of vehicles is a metric, motorcycles are low on the list.

Again, though. Motorcycles are not

This is the future of driving in this country and as someone who loves to drive I am all for it. There will be 2 types of cars autonomous and sporting. You'll need an extremely special license to drive yourself over time and the only drivers left will take it extremely seriously and always pay attention because the

Why can’t the solution just be to educate our drivers more?

How about “ANY”?

In a situation where the choice seems most likely to be “all or none” (as in all automated or none are)... I will absolutely choose the “all” option.

Who’s taking away your car? I think the point if the article was that they should be full autonomous or not at all. Not a suggestion to take away all normal cars. No offense but that’s the same type of sensationalistic bullshit that the gun nuts are spouting. Why is everyone afraid that the government is going to take

I’ve lost many classmates to drunk driving, I’m all for reforming the DUI punishments. If manually controlled cars simply require a more advanced training and autonomy becomes the norm, I’m all for that. I spend hours every day sitting in SoCal traffic watching people around me text, read, eat, etc. The fourth/fifth

Oh, I’m not interested in taking away cars from proper drivers and enthusiasts, but if punishment means all or none, I’m voting all.

I look forward to automation. People cannot drive in this country. Driver education is designed for children, testing is minimal and is taken ONCE, even if you get in bad accidents every few years. Punishment is metered to the opinion that driving is a necessity of life and permissions cannot be taken away.
