Irked because they (GN) do honest work and sort of force everyone else to play fair. Newwegg mad because they were (and likely still are) basically scamming people. The Verge’s PC build video was just atrocious.

Steve from GN has pretty fantastic track record.  His word is pretty much truth until proven otherwise in my book.  This trust has been built over YEARS of doing things the right way.

I didn’t doubt Steve for a split second.

More than a few hardware companies seem rather irked by GN, Newegg probably isn’t particularly happy with them, and even another media outlet, The Verge, went after GN (and others) over an incident a few years ago. The fact that this happens primarily because GN tries to be reasonable is a lot of why I like their

Man, having the job title “youtuber” must really, really, suck.

GN is probably the best tech news source out there in terms of thorough, accurate reporting, and yet Corsair and others can so easily just dismiss them.

what im getting from this is that in order to see more behind the scenes footage of game development and a better understanding on how triple a games are produced, we need to generate takes so nightmarishly bad that developers will have no choice but to dunk on them

Can we all agree theres a difference between “hey come play this game hands on early before we anounce it so that you have time to make a review provided you sign an nda or abide by an embargo“ and “please don’t tell anyone we mistreat employees "

Afaik Schreier doesn’t get confidential information about unreleased projects. He talks to insiders about issues at companies and then reports on them after applying journalistic rigor. I’d say there’s a very large difference.

The idea that Jason is like, actively seeking out people and “convincing” them to share secrets is so goofy lmao. Rolling up with a baseball bat and making them an offer they can’t refuse to get those sweet, sweet leaks.

This streamer is basically signing agreements that he won’t talk about confidential info, and then lying about being the one to spread it afterwards. Jason is finding people willing to talk about (potentially) confidential info, and then protecting their anonymity when necessary; if he were violating NDAs I’d assume

agree with your first point, but this...

I’m forever reminded that when discussion online features for the Wii U a third party dev mentioned things on PSN or Xbox Live only to be met with blank stares because people inside of Nintendo had never used them.

I understand the idea of preferring the Nintendo way but to not even study the competition? It boggles

I was pretty impressed with the message of the first Black panther film, and even more that they actually showed a pretty horrid time in the partition of Pakistan and India. Disney impresses and surprises me more and more.

What if we combined the worst impulses of late-stage capitalism with modern day slavery, BUT ON THE BLOCKCHAIN?!?

Ya know. I read the headline and I figured it meant like turning pictures of people into nfts and putting those into a game. Somehow it was even worse than my imagination.

Really wanna see a Spider-Ham mod.

Surprising exactly nobody. Madden has been garbage since the late 90s, the 2K series was so much better it wasn’t even funny, like comparing a Chevy Spark to a 911 GT3 or something. As I’ve been railing ever since that moron Tagliabue first signed the exclusivity deal, and at Goodell’s inexplicable extensions, this is

Standard gaming industry rate is ~10K per person when calculating budget, which takes into account hardware/software, place to work, wages, etc. So that’d be 50 people working for 1 month. Or 70 people working for about 3 weeks. So yeah, definitely not hiring in an NA/EU country.

Let’s see, they brought in 500k, and hired 70+ people. How does that math even work? For that many people 500k is 1-2 months of operating costs. I’m guessing the hires were paid crap wages, or were being paid with intangibles like exposure or percentages of profit. And that’s not taking into account that they dumped
