I actually consider myself fortunate that I was able to have access to the entire series at once (although I didn't read them all back to back). I think the wait between titles that long time fans have had to deal with would have been excruciating.

I finished the Dark Tower series (excluding the latest entry) a few months ago after years of on/off reading. It's very very good. My favorite series of all time. I have never cared for characters more than the ones in those books.

I'm pretty sure Crysis 2 and Uncharted 3 both run at 30 FPS and neither could be considered anything but buttery smooth throughout. Both are also considerably better looking games.
