Yes, I’m glad I recognize it. I can imagine how frustrating it would be if I didn’t; at least I feel like there’s something there I can control, rather than giving all of that control up. Or rather, not control so much as just being ok with who/how I am, not comparing to others, and working on the things about me I Read more

I can totally empathize with that. I work in mental health so I’m trying to be understanding about my responses to therapy but it’s already hard and this is only week 1. I would very much like to curl up on my couch in a blanket with some tea and not speak to anyone for several days.

Are you on pain meds? My dad was on OxyContin after a major surgery and was in so much pain and couldn’t keep anything down. His doctor eventually realized it was the Oxy and swapped it for another pain medication. It was so bad, he was laying around saying he wished we had let him die rather than taking him into the Read more

Would the doctor you see for IBS be able to see you tomorrow? Fusion surgery isn’t that uncommon and I’m sure they’ve had IBS patients before that have had a fusion. That’s the best I can think of. I can’t believe ERs won’t treat you at all; you’d think if you explain that your surgeon is unavailable and meanwhile Read more

I am so, so sorry you’re going through this and I can’t believe no other doctors will help you. That is insane and should be considered malpractice. They just think it’s okay for you to not be able to eat?! I wish I had some advice but I just... I can’t believe no doctors will help you. I can’t wrap my mind around Read more

I remember my art history teacher being like “LOOK at her FACE while she’s being PENETRATED by the HOLY SPIRIT” when we talked about the spiritual marriage in art/revelation as literal ecstasy (This is Bernini’s St. Teresa, the sculpture includes a cupid-like angel pointing an arrow in the general direction of her

While I’m not ruling out the possible that he’s an IRL creep, it is entirely possible that he has a sext addiction, so to speak. Studies have shown that visual or audio cues signaling the arrival of a text message, tweet, etc. triggers the same synaptic response as pulling the lever on a slot machine. Basically, it Read more

In the reporter’s defense, I think he looked beyond pained to have to do it. We know that a lot of journalist, especially of an older generation are struggling with how newsrooms are being managed these days.

The reporter apologized right off the bat so I’m thinking he had to do it.
