Wait, there are still states that put the sticker on the plate itself and not on the inside of the windshield next to the inspection sticker?

I think that this is the SFWA's point. If the costs of editing, proofreading, formatting the eBook, etc come out first, then it seems to me that a writer could just skip the middle man, hire an editor and proofreader themselves, self-publish, and still own the rights to their own works. They reap all of the profits

I know you are joking, but have you ever seen an actual M60 or M240 firing at a moving vehicle from another moving vehicle? Rounds from a machine gun do not all hit the target and would chew up the road as well as ricochet everywhere. Spike strips are much better for stopping a car without a lot of collateral damage.

I am firmly in the "they probably would have picked him up at the end if he wasn't dead" camp.

The Kindle Paperwhite has a layer above the e-ink display that provides light in low-light situations. I have one and it is a really great e-reader. A 5-inch version that is also a phone wouldn't be bad at all. My phone needs to be charged up every night in order to get through the day, while my Kindle only needs

I love the Inspector Spacetime references on Community because I know that the writers make jokes about us not to be mean but to pay homage to the culture and the parts of the show that we love, and to pay homage to something that they themselves love. You can tell the difference when someone who is not a

Nice. I hate when people use "decimate" instead of "eliminate" or "massacre". The Romans of all people would know what "decimate" means, after all.

It's not only the first example of wirelessly communicating with someone 3 feet away, it's also the first example of sexting, apparently.

Don't forget the sniffing, and the crossing of the arms under the breasts.

Amen, Brother.

I remember about 8 or 9 years ago seeing one of the books at a bookstore (book 9, I think) and thinking "wow, a new Wheel of Time novel", buying it, and then realizing about 1/2 way through that I had already read that one. I'll say that again: the series got so long and repetitive that I read half of a 700-page

I followed your exact same path. I think I made it to book 8 or 9.

Yeah, the only CD I've ever bought from Amazon is a Taylor Swift Live CD for my then 11-year-old daughter. Needless to say I don't see much benefit from this turn of events.

I'm in the same boat. I just learned that there is a new beta for Swiftkey Flow available for download. I'm going to try Swype 1.4 Beta and see if I like it.

Yes, when you factor in the high infant mortality rate. Life Expectancy is an average, you know. It's not like old Grok had a Life Clock crystal in his hand and just keeled over at 30 (a la Logans Run). Plenty of paleolithic people lived to their 40's and 50's and 60's.

Insidious was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The first half was genuinely creepy/scary, but the second half was the biggest let-down I've ever experienced, especially with the "Darth Maul mask leftover from last Halloween" demon.

The grocery store chain in my city (HEB) is experimenting with a hybrid single line express lane in a few stores and it seems to work very well so far. They replaced their self-serve machines with 4 express cashiers fed by a single line and this area takes up the same amount of space but is much faster.

Hear, hear!! The Wool/Shift books are wonderful, and a breath of fresh air from the overblown, paid-by-the-word monstrosities that the major publishers have been putting out lately.

I experienced this same effect a few years ago when HD TV was brand new. They were playing the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie on Blu-Ray on a 60" TV at Best Buy. It was actually too high definition to the point where it looked like actors in bad makeup jumping around a plywood set of a ship, and not like

Please let this be good....I can't wait.....
