I can completely attest to this having lost 50lbs so far using the BodyMedia Fit arm band. Seeing the calories add up in real time is huge motivator while working out.

I've used the bodymedia bluetooth armband for over a year and it's rock solid. My sister got one of these and it's definitely cooler looking but I guess they need to work out the kinks.

I'm an Apple fan through and through but I have a whole house Sonos system with an NAS and it is awesome! Who knows how airplay will change things but for now you can't beat Sonos.

Can't go wrong with "Return of the Space Cowboy" or "Traveling Without Moving" by Jamiroquai. Occasionally I'll throw in "Vulgar Display of Power" by Pantera for heavy weights.

I'm also a proponent of the ball-of-yarn method. Works like a charm, no need for a chair.
