I don't like GFWL, but doesn't it make it easier to port from the 360 version?
The PC version fully supports 360 gamepads, and the gameplay has since been reworked in a patch.
Why pay $60 for TW2 on 360 when the PC version (which I assume you already own) is getting the same extra content for free?
Last Remnant, Ys: Oath in Felghana and Recettear are all excellent games.
There really isn't a unifying concept behind the genre, besides the fact that most of them borrow to varying degrees from tabletop RPGs. That's pretty much their sole common thread.
None of them are RPGs.
Because you're ignoring their nation's audience. Dudebro shooters and BioWare RPGs simply don't do well there. They have an audience for the type of games they enjoy making, and they cater to them. Kind-of like how adventure games and simulators do very well in Germany, so German developers make a lot of those.
"Start studying why Mass Effect 3 or Dragon age does so well and take from that and innovate."
JRPGs are on portables because portables are extremely popular with just about every audience in Japan. Following your audience seems like a pretty good plan.
I'd say wait till the cheap third party memory cards start showing up. They're pretty overpriced right now.
I agree, and I actually think the JRPGs of today are more innovative than the JRPGs of the 90's and 00's. They're a lot more varied in plot, setting and take more risks with game mechanics.
I don't know about the "Cowboy Bebop of this generation," but there's plenty of worthwhile stuff out there.
Is it really less expensive to make, though? KyoAni seems to do nothing but moeblob now, and their animation has more fluidity and detail to it than most action shows. Just take a look at K-On and Nichijou - the lack of still frames is really, really impressive.
It's implied that Lupin gets some in some of the earlier series, IIRC, but it's never actually shown.
Ah, thanks.
