True. You can’t help those who do not wish to be helped. That’s why I kind of want to emphasize the part about starting from a young age. If we all started talking to someone in that sort of setting as a child, and grew up doing it once or twice a year, I feel like it would just be the norm.

I agree that most people with mental health problems (which is arguably probably most people, depending on definition) aren’t a threat to anyone. I am curious how many mass shooters with mental health problems were getting professional help. It seems to me that would go a long way toward defusing a situation before it

In some cases, a lawsuit is more about forcing change with punitive damages than actual restitution for damages for the specific case. In other words, if cases like this are only awarded legal fees and some small amount for their emotional damage and inconvenience, then civil suits become almost worthless in terms of

This hits my thoughts on this. It really would make sense to consider eligible voters rather than total population. (Eligible, not registered). But that’s a harder number to actually measure, and I suspect that as soon as they’re allowed to use that number, you’ll get both parties doing their own way of getting that

That made me curious, so I had to look up the average tenure of SC Justices. Between 1970 and 2006, it’s about 26 years.

I’ve got you beat. I figured this out around junior high. My old man can take a bow for that one, since nothing being good enough for him lead to me saying ‘fukit’ and just doing me. That sounds bad, phrased that way, but it really isn’t.

Again, I don’t know what the expected etiquette at this wine train was, probably because I had no idea there was such a thing, and I also don’t know what exactly was transpiring that got them tossed.

Now you’ve given me a humorous vision of them kicking the rest of the party off, but going “well, grandma’s cool, she can stay.”

There are plenty of places that serve alcohol but still expect reasonable levels of self control. Also, the train hadn’t even left, so unless I misunderstand how this thing works, they hadn’t even started the wine-drinking yet? In which case they either weren’t intoxicated, or had pre-gamed and turned up sloppy drunk

I honestly wouldn’t know. Not a wine-drinker. Also, I would imagine it would depend on the specific atmosphere of the event. Most activities can vary in rowdiness. Thus the reserved judgement and two possibilities. If, as you say, that kind of behavior was typical, and they were the only ones targeted, that’s a solid

I’ve gotta reserve judgement here. If there’s been white people being loud and obnoxious and getting a pass, then OK, sue the racist fuckers for all they’re worth.

“and I seriously doubt anyone wants to see some random woman’s stuff hanging out”

Yeah, my school, iirc, it was mostly the cheerleaders on the team and the football players cheerleading, and seemed like a joke. Especially she football team cheerleading, in over-the-top satire fashion. Although, from what I hear, the gals made flag football a viscious contact sport. But yeah, I wasn’t close to it,

That’s the point I think. It’s meant to be ironic. The traditional gender roles are reversed, and it’s generally treated as funny or cute. I’ve always thought it seemed kinda off/wrong, but I have zero interest in sports, so I just shrugged it off with all the more serious sports.

“Fucks the bride and/or groom.”

I would get a huge kick out of this as well. Do you deliver to South Jersey?

I’m the same way. In fact, I am currently going through a bankruptcy (long story) and I find it funny when I tell people and they act like it’s a big secret or hush their voices when talking about it. I just don’t get it.

Wait, identical twins story? That can’t not be worth hearing...

You sound very rational and reasonable. Neither of which are common when it comes to sex, for a remarkable number of people. :P

No no no, that was ‘essence or yew’ and it draws out toxins from your inner self.
