I am always surprised when I see it as the 7th largest city by US population (larger than Dallas, though not the whole metro area of course). Somehow it just feels more in line with the cities hanging around at 30, like Milwaukee, Vegas, or OKC.

Hmmm. I view them as more prone to St.-Louis-Cardinals-”right-way”-ism.

In no particular order (well, after Giannis), the NBA has a lot of really strong candidates this year: Giannis, Davis, Kawhi, LeBron, Durant, Curry (if he doesn’t miss much more time), Harden.  Plus some stray votes Embiid and Jokic’s way.  The league is flush with talent.

Honestly, that link to the article about the ACC scanning him is defamatory of Joey Crawford.

FWIW, I'm from northern Wisconsin, and people from my neck of the (literal) woods are also snobs about this. But the upper midwest also produces a lot of maple syrup, so I suppose it follows.

I disagree with your ultimate conclusion (since I believe French toast can reach the highest heights), but I sure appreciate how you made the argument.

They would probably be awesome with, you know, some actual “creme” substance. Including heavily whipped cream. Whipped cream is rad.  Or some appropriate custard.

You are right, MoistAnus.  You are right.

I will not be swayed by Big Syrup Trap.

French Toast is the superior breaded breakfast product.  But, and I know this is considered a hot taek, pancakes > waffles.

    Now playing

Mandatory. Also, somehow it is easy to forget that Vince Carter was able to blow our minds with dunks in the post-Jordan era. Dude had a lot of panache.

Well I will just keep not doing it, then.

Probably more pleasant than watching it.

I am not arguing that they they should not be very serious MVP candidates, but just that I doubt they will get many first place votes.  Again, mostly as a result of the stories we like to tell.

    In fairness, those rule.

Durant and Curry are also going to be penalized by comparison to past team success. Even if the Warriors finish ahead of Houston, L.A., and all the rest, the fact that they are a bit of a mess is going to be the narrative. While for LeBron and Giannis, any team success will be attributed to them.  Some voters still go

Got me! But too quickly, because I was still able to make the necessary correction.

It is too early in the season for me to exclude Embiid as an MVP candidate, but I am going to do it anyway. Joel Embiid is not a contender for MVP. His name will be on some ballots, but he will be lucky to finish third.

Drawing power. I'd like to know if it worked.

    Does Mayweather feel no shame!!!
