Defensive driving. Always assume someone will be changing lanes into you, because they will.

For a second I was thinking rotary abuse, hmm, “shutting off a Mazda RX-7 shortly after it’s started so it floods or not driving enough to lubricate the apex seals?,” then I saw MA. Those are traffic circles in NJ (also an impromptu game of chicken) and roundabouts elsewhere.

I personally leave 1 car length at lights.

Another I’d love to see discussed - why do so many people drive with their high beams on all the time? I don’t remember this being such an issue.

This.

Yeah, I must’ve missed it. It’s in the middle of that weird spot where they drop an ad, a video, and the request to sign up for the newsletter before the piece picks back up again. I feel absolutely no shame for missing it in this stupid layout they started using awhile back.

I’d assume that to many of us who fancy ourselves as gearheads, a car/truck/bike/boat, etc. isn’t just an expense, it is a reflection of ourselves.

Despite what many people may say or think, none of this is ok.”

I was single and living in an apartment. I did have a garage size storage unit I could turn wrenches in. The problem was that I didn’t always have the right wrenches or more importantly the time to turn them. don’t have a car? sucks to be you I guess

First gear: I learned the hard way about loans.

Financial literacy/knowledge is pathetically low.

Plus you can do other stuff with your cash. A cheap loan that is not underwater and is offset by a well-performing brokerage account, not the worst thing in the world.  I know it’s not the Dave Ramsey way of life, but it’s fine IMO.

People don’t usually make their car purchases with logic in mind.

High gas prices also effect the poor disproportionately.

Disagree. There’s nothing about that activity that is exclusive to one orientation or another.

We are a highly rational society. Our communal safety is paramount to us all as witnessed by our embrace of mask wearing, vaccination, gun safety, vehicle inspections, infrastructure spending, etc.

The Battle Hymn of the Jalopnik.

Uhhh, so what wagon seats 7, costs ~$40k, gets 25mpg combined or more, and comes with a factory warranty? None? Besides the additional space & comfort, this is exactly why there is a solid place for minivans.
