They still had insurance, being paid for by the Union fund. They also can’t be denied treatment at an ER if all else fails. There weren’t going to be rampant deaths from this.

Yes, those are ideal ways to manage money. But the reality is that wage growth had been incremental compared to expenses over the last half century and a lot of people can’t save that way.

Well he was at least smart enough to know that if he told people he would help, rather than telling them they would get more of the same thing that hadn’t been working (or worse, not talking to them at all) then he might get them to bite.

Even living well within your means going from 4k a month to 1k is going to sink you. 

Sure they are, but the alternative to them was another 4 years of being in the same bad situation. The Dems didn't do anything to reach out to them, and they took a chance on an Orange dude because at least it was a chance to improve things.

Doesn't work when you already have the car note and a mortgage based on your usual income. Sure you can change some things, but the biggest bills will likely stay the same for a lot of people.

The Porsche is something he could buy and sell later without losing much, instead of having to lease to avoid a big depreciation hit when he gets bored in 3 years

And those athletes in the big programs bring in a lot of money directly and indirectly that benefits average Joe students. You're getting a return on that extra g.

University is for people to grow as a whole, and for athletes, sports is integral to that.
