@Brian Hogg: Free apps have in-app purchasing too. Thus, shareware, essentially.

@trs: Totally agree with you. I think people are missing the point that this is a decision that is up to the developers to make without it forced upon them and that's a good thing.

@peasant slayer: I think you're confused. "Try before you buy" features trial apps. So yes, trial periods are given. The thing is, this is up to the developer and not forced upon them, which is a good thing. I think this is specifically missing from people's radars.

@himynameissam: Then again, there was that whole free bumpers thing and well...

@CitizenMustard: I think it's up to the devs ultimately. I can see it being ripe for abuse and it leaves developers completely screwed not only by said abuse but casual game devs would be hit the hardest, along with some utility app devs. I'm not an app developer and I even think it's creating more problems than

@talkingstove: There is something wrong actually. It's not your app to make that call. The developer can price it however they like and forcing them to make it free/ad supported is not cool due to people returning because their app happens to be a casual mobile game with simple gameplay is just sad.

@Odin: Good one, Odin!

@hugenerd: I'm a consumer and not an app developer but I agree with you. I think this creates more problems/issues than necessary considering that people could easily abuse the system. Say I had a trip I had to make one day.. I buy a navigation app and return it later that day. Not cool.

I can see the advantage of having a lite version in that you not only get to try the app for longer than 24 hours, but the app still works well but in a limited capacity and maybe that's all you need. I know I've stuck with lite versions only and been just fine. Besides, it seems to me that if a return policy is

@A Magician Named Gob: Cool thanks, I really appreciate your taking the time to explain it. Last time I asked a genuine question about something, all I got were internet memes and whinging.

@drstein: Just curious, how is it different?

@A Magician Named Gob: Yea, I think so. So basically, I don't need to use their syncing feature at all and can just use the cloud storage by itself as a storage on their servers and nowhere else — do I have that right?

I thought this being a mouse was pretty much obvious. MS Hardware typically puts out keyboards/mice, and the teased "flat black"-ness of it was screaming "touch surface". Not sure how anyone could have thought otherwise.

Who is in #19? Forgive me.

@beehunt: I'm not sure I understand Dropbox. Do you need that 2gb on your local machine first in order to use the cloud 2gb storage or do you get 2gb of cloud storage and don't need to dedicate 2gb on your local machine? I ask because when I tried signing up and installing it, I had to install their plugin on my

Can't say I'm saddened by this. To me, Mosspuppet was never funny. Tries way way too hard, isn't a good caricature/parody, and doesn't even remotely sound like Mossberg.

@Spartanical: I think they're saying they were taken at the same exact position, minutes apart from one another. So it's more likely it was by the same person... which would be Earle I guess.

@techguy78: And the price is going to go up again next year for riders, especially monthly unlimited

iOS apps run on touchscreen iPhones and iPods and iPads. How will it be possible to use an iOS app with a magic trackpad that is not a screen? You'd still presumably have a cursor on your non-touch screen so what's the point?

@Squalor: Nice, I need one of those. I heard there's some kind of 'app for that' but I'll just let someone notice me holding the iPhone, then I'll hand them a pen and paper and start dictating.
