Engine mounts are actually designed to fail in crashes, so the engines can go under the cabin instead of through it. In this instance, they're being hit with a fair amount of centrifugal force that they're not designed to withstand, so not surprising the multi-hundred-pound engine achieved escape velocity. 

A Ford Escape, Bronco Sport, and Corsair, but without room behind the headrests, since there’s glass there. Bit easier ingress/egress since there’s no wheel hump intruding into the rear doors.

Gm isn't so much unlucky as their own worst enemy. The late-2000s financial crisis should have really truly changed the company for the long term, but it just killed off brands that were arguably superfluous, but still attracted the somewhat-niche buyer.

Too close to both Volvo (who is pivoting to actual name model names with the XC90 replacement) and infiniti (where a QX60 is bigger than a QX70). I've done that in Pacificas too. What's all the more confounding is that they first used that setup in the ill-fated final-generation 200, got bad feedback about it, but still went forward with it for the Pacifica. 

There are a lot of buttons, but that shape, appearance, and layout pleases my lizard-brain in indescribable ways.

True, in some cases. Same exists for cars, though those are aftermarket add-ons, usually by shady (BHPH typically) dealers, and not only can they be remote kill-switches, but also trackers for involuntary repos. 

Counterpoint on Volvo: VIDA and a knock-off DICE unit are amazeballs for pre-SPA (Geely) cars. Lots of quality DIY stuff for Volvo owners, including the function extenders (which I still need to get for mine).
