Subaru isn’t a great suggestion though it does meet many of the qualifications. Going for a 10-year old car at that price with a college budget isn’t wise, as there’s so little money left in the budget for repairs and maintenance. Good idea looking at CarMax, though, their extended service plans are excellent and tend

Can they wait a few months? There’s this brand-new vehicle that sounds perfect... Been a few articles about it, hmm, what was it again...?

Ok now do one with a rear door with the extended cab. Like the SuperCabs.

I was initially concerned, but Ford’s CVTs in their hybrids have been solid. IIRC they were jointly-developed or bought from Toyota (or their supplier). Not the jatco garbage that goes in everything from chevy Sparks to Infiniti QX60s (obviously different transmission models, just same manufacturer).

With the tailgate down and using the bed extender, it's a 6' bed in essence.

Yeah Ford seems to have subaru right in the crosshairs. Between this, the Bronco Sport, and Explorer Timberline (which still has an awkward schnozz but not as bad as subaru’s designs lately), and without having to worry about boxer engines or CVTs (other than the Maverick Hybrid, of course), these are solid wins for Fo

The person graphic is globally understood and used on a wide variety of marques.

If it’s an AGM battery (almost certain, since stop/start system and stored inside the cabin) they last about 5-7 years, so not a big issue. Plus better weigh balance. The last two cars I had (still have the second) with AGM batteries actually both were on their original batteries even though they were 12 years old.

AWD + hybrid coming in 2022, they're staggering the release.

Hybrid AWD coming for 2022, they're staggering the release.

I think the headlights look off because AFAIK the top section above the turn signal doesn't seem to do anything. Great spot for upfitters to put strobes and such for city work trucks and such, though. Nice that the headlights areblow and won't blind folks in cars.

Would it fit with the tailgate down? Gives you 6' of length, according to Ford.

True, though a sun-baked bloated whale carcass on the verge of explosion looks better than chevy's design language right now. Apparently all of gm's decent designers are on buick projects.

Looking at the packaging especially compared to the F-150 gas/hybrid vs Lightning, it's not unfeasible for a full EV to be made, though it'd have a lot less capacity than the F-150 just due to packaging, since it's not Body-on-Frame.

With the fold-down tailgate adding another 18-ish inches, that could be a 6' bed and be just shy of 8' that is the standard for a “long-bed”. Stuff hanging just 6" over the end of the tailgate isn’t that bad, and doesn’t require any warning flags.

Or, y’know, Ranchero. Or any of the other Fords since the '30s that were cars with beds.

Stability control, yes, and with forward-collision warnings, should be able to avoid the cause of the accident (following too closely) as well.

Looking forward to this. Seems like a better Baja in all the right ways.

I noticed the same thing! Hardly a peep about it, but it’s in SUCH poor taste, especially when there are folks on trial for THAT EXACT THING. Not a good joke, wasn’t funny, but his sycophants laughed anyway.

Rather than E-150, F-15E (pronounced eff-one-fift-ee).
