Maybe not best, but better. Jake from Adventure Time should not be design inspiration for a grille. Also the Super Duty has been the best looking “HD” truck since it came out, even the years when the rear tail light shape didn’t quite match the rest of the blocky design language.

Sure it looks better, but also anonymous, like those startup electric brands’ trucks, or something from Grand Theft Auto/Burnout/Saint’s Row/etc. That said, GMC’s recent design language has been all over the place, maybe it could fit in there and give them just one direction to focus on.

That looks inspired by the dollar store knockoffs of the Gillette Fusion 5-blade razor.

I agree that 9 cars is too much for one person to handle on their own.

I had both a Trogdor hoodie AND a The Cheat hoodie. In an act of adolescent desperation/hormones, I gave both to a girl that I really liked and that there was significant mutual affection with (we were essentially dating but never labelled it so). As it turned out, though, The Cheat was the more accurate of the two to

I was expecting the CotD to be the one-two punch if this comment and the accurate observation that making the Truckdor image took more effort and inspiration than the truck it was based on. Even it was missing the consummate Vs. Accurately, it did not have any Majesty.

It’s a pity Ford seemed to have forgotten about that for the current Super Duty. Instead of a nicely-low light, now they have (on the halogen baser trucks, not the LED-equipped rigs) a high AND low beam, so everyone gets blinded.

Precisely! Thank you for expounding on that.

You turned it into a VERY surprised Camaro.

Except the Super Duty looks, well, good. Like they put thought into it. Not materialized a child’s drawing of a freshly-punched Transformer.

To me the grille reminds me of an Excel spreadsheet or table in Word that someone added too many rows to, and they just decided to go with it. The lights would look so much better with vertical inboard edges (instead of angled), and if the grille bar was vertically centered in the grille. Just... Ugh.

I’m laughing so hard I’m almost crying.

Why do GM’s mirrors look like an afterthought? It’s like they settled on how they want the mount to look, then tack on whatever’s laying around the mirror bin that meets the minimum requirements. Contrast to Ford and Dodge/Ram where the mirrors look like part of the overall design ethos. Heck, Ram’s trick swiveling

I have no delusions that the CX-5 is as or more nimble than the 3 it’s based on, as simple physics dictates that cannot be factual. My assertion was merely that the CX-5 was “almost as nimble” which I’ll grant was generously worded, but deliberately phrased to indicate that they’re similar but different. For all the

As a 4-time wagon owner, I’m an unabashed fan of practical vehicles. I also like earnestly quirky vehicles. If they’re fun to drive, so much the better.

My apologies, I didn’t see the “rear” in the original post. The joys of Jalopniking at 5AM.

Thanks for your valuable input. I guess my 3 years of ownership of a CX-5, countless miles driving my sister’s Mazda3, my career driving and servicing cars, and my decades of driving experience pale in contrast to your having driven one of each model at least once. You sure put me in my place.

You can get a turbo AND AWD in the CX-5, and that’s almost as nimble as the 3 that it’s based on.

Some OEMs (like Land Rover and Ford) have washer nozzles for the cameras on certain models. If the cameras are mounted high up (my preference to bumper height since it feels more natural) there’s no reason the rear window sprayer couldn’t also have a jet for the camera lens.

What height was the seat at?
