Zardoz is the greatest thing Connery ever did, and if it weren't for Deliverance, I'd say the same thing about Boorman as well.  If you want to amplify your feelings for Rampling, check out Liliana Cavani's The Night Porter.

I wasn't aware of that novel, but after reading the Wikipedia page, I must say it looks awesomely absurd and I will be picking up a copy ASAP.

I'm pretty sure they're the same.  KK the actor was an asshole, too.
