Always impressive to see these out in the wild, they sold so good, especially the roadster.

“No, you’re not. You’ll be stone dead in a moment.” -BMW, probably.

“But I’m feeling better!”-BMW i8

It’s not so much that they are tightly sealed so much as the effect is due to the very very fine tuned aerodynamics of modern cars that give them their lower drag coefficients. This means that the flow will be far smoother around the entire car and the second the window opens it will create that substantial pressure

All of what you listed, in terms of customization, is possible with a phone call to the Ad Personam department.... oh, and some extra stacks of money, that part is important too.

Isn’t that Dany Behar’s Lotus Elan concept?

This. Put a big electric motor in a PHEV and they are fun to drive. See the Chevy Volt.

Is it legendary though? I think they were cool and ahead of their time in safety and aerodynamics but they were flatly rejected by consumers and Chrysler couldn’t revert to more conservative styling fast enough.

That’s because it looks like crap.

you’re completely correct that cars closer to the average price sell in much higher volume than high cost cars, but a median is always going to be more descriptive than the mean for this type of data, particularly when the rightward tail of the distribution is by necessity much longer than the leftward tail. Perhaps

Because I’m right and everyone else is wrong, that’s why.

I’m always amazed by the binary thought process that seems prevalent today - If you’re “this”, you cannot be “that”.

remember when maintenance was actually a thing? The fact that cars can do 100-200k with only oil changes today is amazing. Even transmissions will last that long without any fluid changes. They may not be great after that much neglect, but they will run.

I mean, I don’t go exploring in the wilderness armed with only bear spray. I have a shotgun w/ Brenneke Black Magic Magnum 12 GA Slugs.

Right with you. I have a 1250cc motorcycle for my “fun” vehicle. For my DD I just want something with working heat/AC that’s comfortable enough and can take the craters on I-90 at 60mph without breaking something. And not scrape on my driveway. And not plow snow lol like you mentioned.

And this is exactly why 99% of modern super/hypercars bore me. What exactly is the point if the only way to appreciate their abilities is to have access to a handful of huge racetracks? It’s just a store of a value for the uber-rich. It’s the bitcoin of cars. Oh sure, people could use it as intended, but no one does.

SUVs are for going off the beaten trail, which makes it so sad to see all of them trundling along the interstate serving as family carriers.

There is some sexism in those statements, but also some truth. You should NOT build a car specifically for men or women period full stop. You should just build a car, that fits into whatever category you want, be it sports car, suv, sedan, hyper car etc. Building a car specifically for women only is just absurd, just

Not only that, but the car has already racked up all the miles it will ever be driven.

Most of the hypercars make me feel so meh, but this car is weirdly desirable. I like that they weren't trying to give it MAX GRIP or SUPER RING TIME.
