I don’t know enough about McCaskill to have a strong opinion but I seem to remember she was one of the “blue dog dems” that made passing Obamacare more difficult than it should have been? Maybe I’m way off base on that, but either way I’ve always gotten more of a slimy vibe from her than the scrappy vibe I get off of

I don’t know that much about him and I don’t love him, but he seems to actually know what it takes to win races and seems to be the only one comfortable calling bullshit on all the wasted political capital of the DNC.

But look how magnificently short-sighted and stupid he is. He’s literally like a toddler.

At that point it’s not religion, it’s just a coping mechanism.

It sounds like yes they were considered exculpatory evidence. It’s like if you have a witness who says the criminal was a one armed man. If you have two arms, your arms are physical evidence that in fact you could not have been the criminal.

He wasn’t denied the choice to testify. In that case the tattoo was material (and potentially exculpatory) evidence because it was present at the time of the crime yet eyewitnesses didn’t report seeing tattoos at the time of the crime.

And realistically speaking as a liberal, there’s no reason to believe we would make any progress as a country right now without these executive excesses. Many of the best things Obama has done were done by executive order or executive rule changes and directives because congress is doing nothing.

And I don’t believe for a second Sanders would have been effective in the white house. The GOP would have relished making him look like a doddering old fool without a clue, and Sanders never cared enough about his superficial image to have much chance of countering that narrative.

If there’s anything in this world that Hamilton is more cut out to do than social commentary, it’s being a fucking backwoods hobo.

Harry Reid for DNC chair!

I’m not sure gawker media/Univision sees a path to monetization for FA. I think the only reason it hasn’t been shuttered yet is the possibility of a Trump military build up/major military conflicts in the world would make damn good content even with a mediocre writer.

Yah I’m not sure how this thread went down this particular rabbit hole. In my view a few people went the “manufactured outrage” direction and attacked me for not adhering to popular culture’s idea of what forgiveness is (your words: “where it’s treated as a failure on the part of the person who was harmed if they

Nice trolling.

That’s mostly true. It seems like there’s a shift going on in our politics too, and the republicans seem to understand that identities like gender and race and even profession transcend political parties.

Well yes—I guess we all have different definitions of forgiveness, probably overly informed by pop culture, but my point is that forgiveness is about the forgiver. It’s about allowing yourself to let go of the anger and resentment that are damaging you, it’s not about the forgivee or absolving their guilt or

And the comments over there are unfortunately just a huge seemingly ex-mil circle jerk, with a handful of Trumpy car guys thrown in to mix things up. I think FA benefitted immensely from the traffic sent from Gawker, Deadspin, etc. because it broadened the conversation beyond voices who hang out on every other defense

It’s not about movies, it’s about what forgiveness actually means. It isn’t about absolving the forgiven, it’s about letting go of resentment. It’s about the emotional and mental health of the forgiver, not the forgivee.

Is it just me or is it beyond obnoxious how the democrats are impotently trying to steal media cycles with some stupid circus around choosing new DNC leadership that literally nobody fucking cares about?

That seems a little narrow and reductive though.

This year can’t even.
