It’s interesting because the V60 seems to have consistently outsold the Cross Country for every year they were both available simultaneously except in its last model year.

I thought it was a tribute to rest stop bathrooms.

Exactly. That’s a horrifying statistic.

I don’t know, but this was my first thought.

No, that’s how the criminal justice system works there. Detainees aren’t allowed bail and can be held in 23 day increments without a lawyer. They typically withhold charges / make new ones up when the 23 days elapse to prolong the process and to elicit a false confession. It’s absurd.

Agreed. But that’s more a (designed, arguably) failure of policy; this is the policy.

I honestly have no sympathy for this rich asshole’s corrupt wrongdoings, but Japan’s criminal justice system is insane. This system of pre-trial detention makes the country look like Iran.

For a while their only good car!

I have a sneaking suspicion Hulu has some demographic insights that suggest misogynists get off on the torture porn aspects of the show. It would explain why they’ve started to lean so heavily in that direction.

I think the Avalon exists only because the ES is such a big seller. I imagine the development costs are low, justifying its continued existence. And there are hardly and Priuses in stock right now, for what it’s worth. But yes, an electric car is long overdue.

Hasn’t this been their position since forever? They’re very public about wanting to achieve economies of scale.

This would be a lot more exciting if it didn’t look like a Fiat 124.

Oh, right. Well, having one of something is not really the same as being particularly renowned for it. (?)

I feel like they very pointedly marketed the C30 as a coupe, though.

I mean, it’s not as if Volvo is particularly renowned for its hatchbacks. Save the guillotines for when they start killing off their wagons, I say.

...vital to the transportation of billions of tons of freight and people

I feel like this is an opportunity to turn the LX into a G 63. Strangely on board with the idea.

It looks like they ditch the third row for this version, too, which if I recall was one of your chief criticisms.

I hate that they got rid of the Alpine lights. It looks like a Fiat, now. :(
