Has Adequate Man ever done a post on “How to Apologize”? Because, man, it seems like a few people could use some pointers in a skill that I thought we all learned by the time we were 7.

If they win? Absolutely.
And that’s exactly why the numbers will continue to be reported this way - both sides of the transaction want it reported this way. And journalists, eager to please sources, will report the information in the headlines how they are fed it.
They lost, literally, the fewest games of any NBA team ever. So either (a) they actually do have a legitimate Plan B or (b) they are so unbelievably fucking good at their Plan A being on point that they are an all-time great team even if one dimensional. Because no team loses 9 games in a season without being an…
Good use of advanced stats.
No amount of tragedy will make you assholes pass up the low hanging fruit, will it?
I never said that promoting the fight excused his actions, troll. I clearly characterized his actions as unacceptable. If you choose to ignore what I actually said, fine. Go beat up your straw man and have your imaginary masturbatory argument.
I’m not making excuses for any behavior, and nowhere in my post can you identify me doing any such thing. The way Ali treated Frazier was nasty and unnecessary. It was mean. It was bullying. It was not “racism at its worst.” If you think one black man calling another black man a gorilla is racism at its worst, you…
That’s not a “technicality.”
He was not a draft dodger. He was a conscientious objector who directly fought for the right to refuse to participate in a war he objected to and won. There are a lot of aspects of Ali’s life that show that “nobody is perfect” but his refusal to participate in a pointless war is not one of them.
1) As a factual matter, you’re wrong. Muhammed Ali was a conscientious objector (not a draft dodger), not Cassius Clay.
There are more ways to thank someone than by placing a full page paid advertisement in a newspaper and starting a website dedicated to expressing support. Thanking someone in that way, particularly after a departure that occurs with controversy, is about more than just thanking them.
Boy, it’s almost like that’s the exact point the author is making.
Racism at its worst? Did he hang Frazier from a tree? Deny Frazier opportunities that rightfully belonged to him? Or did he just say really nasty things in attepting to promote a fight?
I’m sure Simmons thinks he knows how to make it profitable, but I seriously wonder whether Simmons knows the first thing about turning a media property into a profit. His talent is in executing creative ideas into critically acclaimed projects. Of course, HBO is great at turning prestige projects into profit, so this…
Yes, it is. The story is that there’s only one known investor in a pretty major media startup, and the reporting is reaching out to potential investors to see if they actually invested. It would be silly to report whether or not Dennis Rodman invested in The Ringer (which you know), it is not silly to report on…
You are drunk.
I’m curious what this era was “where players were shit who seemed to hate the fans, the game, the press.” I grew up watching baseball when Bonds was around and I don’t remember some rash of unfriendly stars. Bomds was just a malcontent.
What?
That seems to be the default state of the NBA. Basketball has so many possessions and so much scoring that even a single game can give a relatively good idea of who the “actual” better team is. Throw in 7 game series, and it is less likely that the “best” teams will fail to advance than any of the other 4 major…
