that opening silhouette shot was brilliantly done. hat's off to JJ there.

the EU had tons of plots with superweapons galore. when Disney threw it all out, they kept the superweapon stuff? sheesh. it was all so rote.

the time spent with those Final Fantasy malboros and the two smuggler groups would have been better used elsewhere. that whole part was inessential.

i guess i can buy Kylo being cocky against them, and being hesitant against Rey since he's unnerved by her Force abilities. but Finn should have been sliced up, at the very least missing a limb. unless the First Order had elective courses in Basic Lightsaber Techniques. i can maybe buy Rey being able to since she was from the group of Force potentials that Luke was training (though you can argue how much of that training does she actually remember) and Kylo maybe being a bit hesitant against Rey if she really is more powerful than him.
