A few years ago, there was a robbery in a NYC cell phone store. Cops from at least two different precincts responded. Instead of coordinating their engagement of the perp, they went in “Wild West” style. One cop ended up shooting and killing another cop, and instead of charging the killer cop for “negligence” at

Try again.

Indeed, which is why I also added “or otherwise ensure that they are clearly not going to start moving when I step in front of them.” Maybe that’s just the fact that there are other pedestrians in the crosswalk that they’ve clearly already seen - perhaps coming the other way. Maybe it’s just their mannerisms that

For the majority of the US, banning right on red is a silly, and impractical idea.

I mean we could start by enforcing the laws we already have, ticket people who turn into an intersection when there’s a pedestrian in the crosswalk. And for that matter ticket people who blatantly run red lights and stop signs, or who drive on the shoulder, or who drive in the center median, or who use the crosswalk

As a pedestrian, I‘ve literally never had an issue with vehicles turning right on red. That's because I'm an intelligent human being who understands that it's important to make eye contact with the driver of that vehicle, or otherwise ensure that they are clearly not going to start moving when I step in front of them.

In downtowns, sure, but in the suburbs it makes no sense to NOT have the ability to turn right on red.

I will defend the left turn arrow. No it’s not warranted at every single intersection, but it is really necessary in certain spots where you would probably need to sit through 4 or 5 light cycles before you could even hope to get a gap.

This is, entirely, a problem with selfish idiot drivers who refuse to accept the primacy of safety over all else. It has absolutely nothing to do with “right on red”. The selfish idiots will find a way to get you regardless of the laws on the books. The solution is far more rigorous driver testing and re-testing than

Nah, leave it up to local municipalities to make their call. I’ve had countless hours of my life wasted yearly due to having to wait at intersections at red lights where absolutely zero cars passed through the intersection for the entirety of the light cylce as I was waiting for green. I’d add ban the bs left turn

Ah so you are another kind of problem on the highway

100% this. No matter how consistant you think you are going, you are not

I’ll be honest with you, on long trips it’s usually obvious who isn’t using cruise control, and they kind of drive me crazy. Cruise keeps things orderly on the interstate.

This reminds me of how Disney refused to pay royalties to Star Wars novelization authors like Alan Dean Foster after it acquired the IP. They decided that they’d acquired the rights to the content but not the obligation to pay for Lucasarts’ agreements, and they had to be shamed for months before they resolved the

I forgot to mention that I’m clinically stupid.

She also said she had previously reached out to Epic but it had never responded.”

Nice car. Those Saturns have great lines.

That's true. This is like if the MCU had a shitload of weird inconsistencies by like... Iron Man 2

Problem here is that Overwatch hasn’t really told many stories yet.

It’s almost like Overwatch’s story is a giant mishmash that even Blizzard doesn’t really care about, since it’s now the same free-to-play grindathon as a dozen other live service games, and any hope of stakes or consistency in this fictional world has long since vanished.
