That’s quite literally not true. The auto industry is trying to squeeze every ounce of current profit and reinvesting all that money specifically into the massive medium to long term goal of switching over to EVs.

They’re not cutting manufacturing workers. The cuts are to salaried employees. It wouldn’t affect production directly. 

If nothing else, rip’em down to base materials and recycle them!
